I graduated from Bates College in 2009 with a degree in political science and started my teaching career over eleven years ago when I joined The Princeton Review. While working for that company, I helped literally hundreds of students prepare for the SAT through group instruction and one-on-one tutoring. I went on to become a full-time, independent tutor who specializes in helping students with the SAT, ACT, GRE, ISEE, SSAT, and SHSAT, as well as with school work and the writing of college application essays.
The students who I have tutored independently have consistently seen amazing results, illustrated by the fact that over 90% of them have been accepted to their first-choice college or private secondary school. As part of my guidance, I have shown many of them how to write personal statements that greatly enhance their college applications. They are often struck by how easy they find the process as I help them create natural, engaging narratives that highlight their most important goals, character traits, and personal experiences.
In my free time, I love to read about current events, play soccer, and ride my bike throughout New York City. I live on the Upper West Side with my wife and two kids.
What some happy students and parents say:
"I can honestly say that my tutoring sessions with Jon were a key part of my success on the SAT. Without him I would not have gotten into my top choice schools. I would recommend Jon to anyone looking for an SAT tutor without a second thought."

"Jonathan worked patiently with my daughter through her SAT test-prep in order to help her achieve her desired scores. She was applying to Ivy and NESCAC colleges. Jonathan brought a sense of calm and encouragement to her at a very stressful time. My daughter got into her first choice school early decision."
- Christina C., Proud Mom
"Jon did a terrifc job helping our daughter with the SATs. He gave her the attention and confidence she needed to help her acheive a substantial increase in her scores. We recommend him enthusiastically and unequivocally."
